EL's Boyer 2nd at Suburban League meet

BELOIT - The rain appeared to dampen the spirits of the East Liverpool cross country team on Tuesday.

The Potters' boys team finished last out of six teams at the Suburban League meet held at West Branch High School.

Austintown Fitch won the meet with 52 points, followed by Canfield with 55 points.

East Liverpool was sixth with 117 points.

"It was a very poor performance,"?East Liverpool coach Scott Thornberry said. "I was really disappointed."

Nate Boyer didn't have much trouble with the soggy course, however. Boyer took second place overall with a time of 17:28.

The meet was won by South Range's Tim Nichols (17:00).

Also for East Liverpool was:?Jake Densmore (25th-19:51), Shae Long (26th-19:57), Chase Mahon (45th-21:12), Ian Smith (54th-22:01), Matt Lucas (71st-24:05), Grant Owens (83rd-26:48).

On the girls side, Emily Kotfis finished 23rd in 25:08, while Hayley Lucas was 48th in 29:11.

In middle school action, East Liverpool was second out of six teams with 54 points. West Branch won the event with 37 points.

For East Liverpool:?Tyler Adkins (4th-13:17), Robbie Davis (10th-13:43), Marcus Calhoun II?(11th-13:48), Ryan Geisse (25th-15:09), Dillon Kidder (26th-15:16), Colin Smith (39th-15:44), Owen Ohara?(49th-16:34), Isaac Long (56th-22:21).

East Liverpool will be back in action on Saturday at the Dover Invitational.
