EAST LIVERPOOL - Falling leaves, cold beer and the oompah-pah of a polka band all spell one thing: The second annual Oktoberfest set for 12-8 p.m. Sept. 29 at Thompson Park.
Sponsored again this year by the East Liverpool Area Rotary, Oktoberfest will feature several activities that proved popular in its first year, as well as some new offerings, according to co-chairmen David Bickerton and Greg Stansbury.
Although beer and wine will again be offered, the chairmen said a wider selection of beer will be available, along with a greater variety of food and craft vendors.
Buggy rides will be joined this year by pony rides for the kids, who will also have a choice of activities.
Music will be played throughout the day, with a live band performing from 4-8 p.m.
Vendors are still being sought for the event, and anyone interested can send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to register.
While Stansbury and Bickerton said they hope to again have the perfect weather that greeted guests last year, a rain date has been set for Oct. 6.
