EAST LIVERPOOL - Barbara Kay Lovejoy Galloway, 60, of Northside Avenue in East Liverpool passed away at 10:50 p.m. Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Calcutta Health Care Center, following a lengthy battle with ALS ("Lou Gehrig's Disease").
Born January 29, 1952 in East Liverpool, she was a daughter of the late Jean Lovejoy Robbins and Darrell "Pete" Lovejoy. A lifetime area resident, she was a 1970 graduate of East Liverpool High School.
Kay had worked at the former Hill's Department Store before taking time off to raise her family. She then worked for six years at Giant Eagle as a cake decorator, and later did administrative work for LaBelle Nursing Home in Steubenville and Adkins Convalescent Center in East Liverpool for over 15 years. She was famous among her friends and family for her "melt in your mouth" cakes.
Surviving her are two sons, Adam R. Galloway and his wife, Angela, of East Liverpool, and Ryan J. Galloway and his wife, Lindsay, also of East Liverpool. In addition, there is a grandson, Dayten Galloway, and two brothers, Jerry Lovejoy and his wife, Louise, and Eugene Lovejoy and his wife, Robbie, all of East Liverpool. Several nieces and nephews survive her as well.
Friends may visit at Dawson Funeral Home on Thursday, where the family will be present from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Friday, with Chaplain Joanne Dota of Hospice of the Valley as the officiant.
