EAST PALESTINE - Ethel E. "Bea" Hess, 82, of Claybrook Drive, passed away at 11:10 p.m. Friday at the Salem Community Hospital, where she had been a patient.
Bea was born March 24, 1930 in McKeesport, PA, a daughter of the late Bailey Joel and Bessie Elizabeth Sullinger Spigler, and had resided in East Palestine for the past four years, coming from London, OH. She and her husband, Jesse, had owned and operated Hess's Laundry & Dry Cleaning in McKeesport for several years, and after moving to London, she had been employed with Arbor's Nursing home, West Jefferson for twenty-five years, prior to her retirement.
She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
The last of her brothers and sisters to pass away, she is survived by her husband, Jesse P. Hess; and two sons, Lawrence (Carol) Argyle, Eureka, CA, and James (Karen) Argyle, Pompano Beach, FL; and eight grandchildren, Jennifer Mayersky, Melissa Argyle, Grace Petrulo, Heather Gaussa, Brent and Josh Argyle, Amy Lawhorn, and Thomas Jenkins.
Two daughters, Janet and Darlene Argyle, preceded her in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Burial will follow in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens, New Waterford. Friends will be received at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home, from 7:00 to 89:00 p.m. Wednesday.
