EAST LIVERPOOL - Jay Anderson Carter Jr., 72, of Lisbon Street, died Wednesday afternoon at Trinity West Hospital in Steuben-ville.
Jay was born in Salineville, the son of the late Jay and Ruth Shinn Carter Sr.
He graduated from Salineville High School, worked as a policeman in Salineville for a time before working at Patterson Industries in East Liverpool for 19 years and then working for Columbiana County EMA for 21 years. He was a member of First Evangelical Presbyterian Church of East Liverpool. Jay was also member of Triangle Amateur Radio Club and owned and piloted his own airplane for many years. He also enjoyed camping.
Jay will be sadly missed by his wife of 46 years, Ruth Coleman Carter; one daughter, Carolyn (Brad) Allison of East Liverpool; two sisters, Jayne (Ed) Glenn of Newark, Calif., and Carolyn Petree of Columbus, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Darlene Carter of Salineville, and two granddaughters, Kaylea and Karla Allison of East Liverpool.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Jaymes Carter.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 30 at Kerr-Pastore Funeral Home with Dr. Mark Dunn of First Evangelical Presbyterian Church of East Liverpool officiating.
Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Salineville, Ohio.
