LaGRANGE, Ind. - Dora M. "Gladys" Pitts Owsley, former longtime resident of Kensington, Ohio, passed away in LaGrange, Ind., July 16, 2012, where she had resided since 1968.
Gladys was the daughter of the late Mexico "Tack" and Della Pitts. Also preceding her in death were sisters Ada Martin, Sylvia Allen and Lulla Cyphert; brothers Tony Pitts, Hillard Pitts, Virgil Pitts, John L. Pitts, Oscar Pitts and Ordie Pitts, all former residents of the Kensington area; three infant brothers in Kentucky; husband Homer Owsley; two step-sons, Robert and Ray Owsley; and step-daughter Emma Bradley.
Survivors are children Evelyn Hale, Rose Conley, Laura Bostick, Kathy Hicks, Rodger Owsley, Karen Ruswinkle, Sallie Franklin and Louetta Grandstaff; two stepsons, Nathan and Claude Owsley of Ohio; one stepdaughter, Alma Faye Gibson of Kendallville, Ind.; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild, all of the LaGrange, Ind. area; step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a host of Pitts family nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.
Viewing will be at Maple Cotton Funeral Home in Kensington, Ohio on Friday, July 20, 2012 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the funeral at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Pitts Family Cemetery in Bayard, Ohio.
