ROGERS - Mrs. Betty Jane Blazer, 81, of Walnut Street, passed away at 3:22 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Salem, where she had been a resident for the past year.
Betty Jane was born August 17, 1930 in Pittsburgh, Pa., a daughter of the late Harrison and Margaret Kaplinger Schultz, and had resided in the Rogers area for most of her life. She had at one time been employed as a bus driver for Beaver Local School District.
She had served as treasurer for Rogers Volunteer Fire Department for six years and had served on Rogers village council.
In addition to her husband, Dale Blazer, whom she married October 16, 1963, she leaves three daughters, Cindy (Michael) K. Davis, Rogers, Stephanie (Scott) Heslen, Rogers, and Lori (Tracy) Blazer, Salem; two sons, Hal (Rhonda) Gorby, Jr., Gorby, Salem, and Michael (Holly) Gorby, Leetonia; and five step-daughters, Barbara (Ron) Westover, Lisbon, Carla (Bob) Roberts, Arizona, Kathy (Mick) Kowalski, Lisbon, Debbie (Mark) Derosa, California, and Candy (John) Heintzelman, Columbiana. She also leaves a sister, Ruth (Warren) McCall, Mineral Ridge; nine grandchildren, Janie (Ken) Rosenberger-Slampak, Rod (April) Schultz, Amy Davis, Bobbie Jo (Chip) Haydt, Michael (Joy) Gorby, II, A.J. Gorby, Patrick Gorby, Raymond Heslen and Elizabeth Heslen; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, William, Bob, James and Jack Schultz; and a great-grandson, James Robert Schultz.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 14 at Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home, East Palestine, with Pastor Mike Dyer officiating. Burial will follow in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens, New Waterford. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Friday.
