EAST PALESTINE - The Pennsylvania man who pulled his truck into the path of a semi truck in Unity Township just west of the village Monday has died.
John Fesh, of Scottdale, Pa., died at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown as a result of injuries sustained in the accident, the Lisbon post of the highway patrol said.
Fesh was driving a 1990 Chevy 1500 pickup truck south on Neeld Road, which is also known as Adams Road at that point, at about 4 p.m. Monday. He entered the intersection of state Route 46/558 and was struck by a semi truck driven by Bennie Barner, of Wooster.
The two vehicles went off the left side of the road after impact and the semi truck struck a tree. The personal trailer being towed by Fesh broke free in the accident and went off the right side of the road and struck a parked 1988 Suzuki Samarai owned by Brent See. Barner was not injured in the accident and the Suzuki was unoccupied at the time, according to the patrol report.
Fesh's residence, Scottdale, is a borough of roughly 5,000 people in Pennsylvania's Westmoreland County, about 50 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.
