COLUMBIANA Evelyn G. Albright, 102, of Whispering Pines Village, Columbiana, formerly of New Waterford, died at 8:20 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012 at the Salem Community Hospital.
Miss Albright was born February 17, 1910 in East Fairfield, a daughter of Perry Calvin and E. Gertrude Esenwein Albright, living in this area all of her life. She attended Ohio University in Athens and graduated from Kent State University with Bachelor of Science in Education. She was an elementary teacher at the former Fairfield Centralized School for 36 years, retiring in 1975. She had also worked at Rural Supply and Geddigs.
She was a member of the East Fairfield United Methodist Church where she taught the Beacon Light Sunday School Class for 70 years. She was recently inducted into the Crestview Alumni Association Hall of Fame.
She is survived by two nieces, Kathleen Smith and Joyce Ward and a nephew, Jay Chamberlain.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Chamberlain; two brothers, Floyd Albright and the Reverend Charles A. Albright; and a niece, E. Verjean Bable.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at the East Fairfield United Methodist Church with the Reverend Michael Namy officiating. Burial will follow in East Fairfield Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana from 7-9 p.m. on Monday and at the church one hour prior to the services on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the East Fairfield United Methodist Church.
