LISBON - Samuel R. "Sam" Heaton, 72 of Lones Road, Lisbon died at UPMC-Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh on Saturday, June 23, 2012 following a brief illness. He was born in East Liverpool on October 8, 1939 and was a son of the late Samuel T. and Doris (Gorby) Heaton.

Living his entire life in this area, Sam retired in 2001 from GM-Lordstown where he worked for 31 years, last working as a fork lift operator. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving from 1957 1960. He was a member of the UAW Local #1112, enjoyed going to the Rogers Sale as well as all yard sales. His passions were 4-Wheeling and spending time with his loving family.

His wife, Jeanne (Vishak) Heaton, whom he married on July 28, 1962 survives him at home.

Also surviving him are his children: Craig A. Heaton and his wife Penny of Glenmoor, Curt M. Heaton and his wife Tonya of New Cumberland, WV, Cory M. Heaton and his wife Misty of Lisbon, Michelle L. Shafer and her husband Matt of Lisbon and Kerri A. Cain and her husband Roger also of Lisbon; one brother: Joe Heaton of Clearwater, FL; one sister: Alice Rae McKenzie of Alabama; fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother: Jay Heaton and one sister: Eva Jean Walgate. Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 11:00 AM. where the Tri State Burial Group will accord military honors.

Following the services, family and friends will gather for food and fellowship at the Turkana Farms Community Room.

The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home in Calcutta on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8PM.
