COLUMBIANA - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 20 at the St. Jude Catholic Church in Columbiana with Rev. Thomas Ziegler celebrating for Paul A. Prosnick, 75, who passed away Sunday morning at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.

Paul was born on January 8, 1937 in New Galilee, Pa., the son of Louis and Bertha (Makowski) Prosnick.

A 1954 graduate of Beaver Falls High School, Paul worked as a service representative at National Cash Register for 38 years, retiring in 2000.

Paul was an avid golfer and gardener. He also coached little league baseball in Columbiana and was inducted in the Columbiana Athletic Hall of Fame.

He served on the Columbiana Park Board for 19 years, where he held the position as a secretary for some years.

Paul also participated in Senior Olympics and was a medalist in swimming and softball. He also played softball in Florida for 10 years and was a member of many area softball teams.

He was a member of the St. Jude Catholic Church.

Paul (Pap) leaves to cherish his precious memory his wife, Joanne "Bunny" (Berrill) Prosnick, whom he married July 5, 1958; three daughters, Diane (Tom) Yazvac of Boardman, Amy Kaszowski of Brandon, Fla., and Mickey (Doug) Shaffer of Columbiana; a son, Kevin (Janis) Prosnick of Howland; a brother, Joseph (Shirley) Prosnick of West Palm Beach, Fla., and his six granddaughters, Katie, Randi, Kristi, Megan, Maci, and Rylee.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Cherrie Poehlman. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests material contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, Ohio, 44512.
