CHESTER, W.Va. - Joseph P. Coleman, 81, passed away peacefully May 14, 2012, at Florida Hospital East following a brief illness, with his family by his side. He was born September 26, 1929 to Roy and Melvina (Williams) Coleman, in Chester, W.Va. He lived most of his life in the Ohio Valley and was an avid Ohio State fan.
A graduate of Wellsville High School, Joseph was employed with Homer Laughlin China Company in Newell, W.Va. for 37 years.
Together for 42 years and married since 1991, he and his wife Loretta moved to Orlando from Ohio in 1987.
Joe enjoyed spending his time watching sports, especially Ohio State, old westerns, playing with his dogs Jack and Ralph, working around his home, and spending time with his family.
Predeceased by his daughter, Joyce Coleman O'Neill Cownden, two sisters Sara Downard and Margaret Samberson, Joe is now at peace.
A wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother-in-law, and uncle, he will be greatly missed by his wife Loretta and his two sisters-in-law, Brenda and Karen, which were more like his daughters at home; three grandchildren Josh O'Neill, Jennifer O'Neill, and Terri Rogers; two great grand-children, Baylee and DJ; four sisters-in-law, Donna (Randy) Bosworth, Mary Scritchfield, Shelley (Wendell) Scritchfield, Susan (Ronald) Scritchfield Greathouse, one brother-in-law, Luther Scritchfield and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and several cousins.
A memorial service will be held Friday, June 8, 2012 at Bethel Baptist Church in Orlando beginning at 2 p.m.
