Columbiana - It is with love that the family of Myron McCamon announces his June 1, 2012 passing.
Myron was born to Edgar and Daisa (Morris) McCamon on June 8, 1922. At their Willow Brook Farm in Columbiana, Myron was raised with his sister, Lenore, and his brother, Wayne (Leila) McCamon.
On August 28, 1948, Myron married his sweetheart and love, the former Dorothy Dickey. They enjoyed 55 years on their small, working Cream Ridge road farm.
During those years, the welcomed their three children, Sherry (the late Wayne) Seachrist, Gary (Nancy) McCamon, and Janie (David) Gildersleeve. During Myron's 63 years with Dorothy, they also loved and treasured their six grandchildren, Mason Seachrist, Kurt Seachrist, Ryan McCamon, Kristi Valentine, Justin Kale, and Amanda Sadlier; and their four great grandchildren, Grant, Trevor, Laila, and Beathan.
Myron was successful as a Rural Carrier for the U.S. Post office and as an Elkrun Township Trustee. He was a member of the Columbiana County Historical Society and Rural Carriers Association. He was also a past member and office holder of the Elkton Methodist Church.
Myron most loved his private farm life, not only by gardening and his lawn swing time under the huge trees, but he especially loved raising and training horses. He was an accomplished horseman, participating in and winning the Tri County 50 Mile Endurance Ride.
Myron's life was one of simplicity, but his family will always treasure his love for family and the lessons learned by example. He will be fondly remembered and his legacy will forever remain.
A memorial service will be held a later date.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Myron's memory to the favorite charity of the donor's choice.
Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home assisted the family with his arrangements.
