SALEM - Clemens "Clem" Vogt, age 86, of Salem, died at 6:35 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2012 at Hospice House in Poland. He was born October 2, 1925 in Ochtendung, Germany, son of the late Wilhelm and Karoline (Dahlhausen) Vogt.
Clem retired from General Motors in Lordstown in 1989, where he was an assembler for 19 years. He had also worked as a bricklayer for Matt Drotleff Masonry.
Mr. Vogt was a 50-year member of Salem Saxon Club Branch 19, Salem Saxon Retirees, Out-Spokin' Wheelmen Bicycle Club, League of American Bicyclists and Adventure Cycling Association. He also was a member of Rail to Trails Conservancy and American Youth Hostels.
Survivors include his wife, Marianne (Simon) Vogt, whom he married July 14, 1951; a daughter, Caroline B. (Ray) Stone of Salem; two sons, Richard C. (Debbie) Vogt, Sr. of Salem and Robert P. (Debbie) Vogt, Sr. of Salem; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a sister, Katharina Muesch of Germany; and a brother, Polikarp Vogt of Germany.
A son, Rolf Vogt, and five brothers, Adolf, Johann, Edwin, Mathias, and Heinrich Vogt, also preceded him in death.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2012 at Stark Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Alan Smearsoll officiating. Calling hours will be held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Hope Cemetery in Salem.
