EAST PALESTINE - Raymond L. Ross, 79, formerly of East Palestine, died Sunday evening, May 20, 2012, at St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center, Columbiana, OH.
Raymond was born August 8, 1932 in Hamlin, WV, a son of Arland and Mamie Jones Ross and had lived in the East Palestine and Rogers area the past 20 years.
Raymond was a crane operator for Babbock and Wilcox in Beaver Falls for many years. After retiring, he was a truck driver for Aramark Food Service for East Palestine Schools.
Hillbilly Ray loved being outdoors, gardening and farming.
His wife, the former Tessie Clay, whom he married March 21, 1951, died May 30, 2002.
He is survived by his daughters, Diana Dean of New Brighton, PA, Nancy Macioce of Boardman, OH; a son, Perry Ross of Chester, WV; his grandchildren, Jason and Brian Dean, Dustin and Josh Morris, Jordan Aiken, Zack Macioce, Emily Garwood and Perry Ross; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Sylvia, Corrina and Rosemary.
He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Morris, three sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm Friday, May 25, 2012, at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Beaver Falls, PA. Friends may call from 5-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
