SALEM - William "Bill" R. Oaks, age 76, of Salem, died at 8:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at his home. He was born March 5, 1936 in Strangford, Pennsylvania, the son of the late William W. Oaks and the late Ora Mae (Libengood) Oaks Blystone.
Before his retirement January 1, 2001, he was a district manager for the Youngstown Vindicator for 30 years. He attended Blairsville High School in Pennsylvania.
His wife, Debra K. (Nold) Oaks, whom he married March 29, 1986, survives him along with six sons, Jeffrey (Ellen) Oaks of Massillon, Gary (Barbara) Oaks of Carrollton, Brett (Theresa) Oaks of Mechanicstown, OH; Todd (Peggy) Oaks of Wellsville, Eric Oaks of Alliance and Justin Oaks of Salem; a daughter, Megan Oaks of Salem; two sisters, Garnet Citeroni of Blairsville, PA and Bonnie (Mike) Protz of Unicoi, TN; a stepbrother, Arthur (Barbara) Blystone of Latrobe, PA; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was his stepfather, Charles Blystone; brother, Harry "Skeeter" Oaks; stepbrother, Charles Blystone Jr.; and stepsister, Anna Ruth Keefer.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
