Abduction attempt discovered to be hoax

February 18, 2012

LISBON - An alleged faked kidnapping on Clarkson Road Friday led deputies to search the area for a vehicle Friday afternoon.

According to Sheriff Ray Stone, a woman called dispatchers at 1:47 p.m. Friday to report a man pulled into the driveway and her boyfriend, Brian Westover, had been kidnapped. She claimed there had been a gun involved.

Deputies responded from throughout the area, running lights and sirens. They began to search the roads in the surrounding area for the vehicle she had reported he had reportedly gotten into.

However, when deputies pulled into her driveway, the woman reportedly said "It's just a game."

The vehicle eventually pulled back into the driveway and Westover, was taken into custody on a warrant. Deputies received permission to search the property from the woman's father, but there was no guns nor drugs found.

Stone said the woman's story changed claiming Westover set it up to get out of the house. The sound she heard was a firework of some type. She is eight months pregnant. Neither the woman nor the other man, Diego Gonzalez were charged at this point. The matter is under investigation.
