Plowed over

January 10, 2012
Morning Journal News

Editor:

Once again the Morning Journal staff has shown its ignorance in the "In Our Opinion" editorial on Jan. 4, written in regards to the road conditions after the recent heavy snowfall.

The writer clearly has no idea what they are talking about. Mother Nature caught no one off guard other than perhaps themselves. When snow falls at the rate it did on this occasion, there is no township, village, county or state road crew that could have kept up. They heavy snowfall and the zero visibility at times, combined with the temperature, made it impossible to maintain clear pavement and safe driving conditions.

Perhaps the next time we have a similar snow event this writer should hitch a ride in a plow truck and see first-hand what these operators have to deal with and the conditions they face. In northeast Ohio there are times we are hit hard by lake effect snow.

In the future, please be more thoughtful before insulting Columbiana County safety forces. These people are hard working men and women doing their best to fight the forces of Mother Nature.
