EAST LIVERPOOL - Jerome Herman Heiney, Jr., 81, of East Liverpool, formerly of Wellsville, died Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at East Liverpool Convalescent Center following a lengthy illness.
He was born May 16, 1930, in East Liverpool, the son of the late Gladys (Hendricks) and Jerome Herman Heiney I.
Jerry was a member of the First Christian Church in Wellsville where he served as a deacon for forty- five years. He served as a corporal in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Jerome was a member of the American Legion Post 70 and the V. F. W. Post 5647. He was employed for thirty-one years as a Sheerman for the former Crucible Steel, before retiring in 1982.
Jerome was preceded in death on July 28, 1974 by his wife Esther Lorraine (Saxton) Heiney, whom he married on June 9, 1952.
Survivors include three sons: Charles Scott Heiney and his wife Debbie of Wellsville, Jerome Herman Heiney III and his wife Sherry of Wellsville, and Kevin Trent Heiney and his wife Billie Foster of Phoenix, AZ; two sisters: Jean Bowdren of Pompano Beach, FL, Kay Yanni of East Liverpool; and one brother: Mike Heiney of Columbia, SC. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, December 18th, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Blakeley of the church officiating.
Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
