Saturday, Nov. 12 will give you the opportunity to participate in the American Medicine Chest Challenge. A number of health organizations in Columbiana County, together with the Columbiana County Drug Task Force and Heritage-WTI, are taking part in this effort.
This "Challenge" is a national event that provides you an opportunity to safely dispose of unused, expired and unwanted medications. Further, it raises awareness of the dangers involved in over-the-counter and prescription drug abuse.
Too many of our loved ones are falling victim to the easy access, unwarranted use of these prescriptive drugs. Easily attainable in our medicine cabinets, these prescription drugs can lead to excessive use, "pharm parties" and/or accidental overdoses.
Prescription drug abuse is the nation's fastest growing drug problem, and our area is not immune to it. Disposing of unused drugs is one tool that is effective in preventing abuse.
Please take advantage of the "Challenge" by bringing unused, expired, and unwanted medications to either the Salem Medical Center, across from Salem Community Hospital, or to the East Liverpool City Hospital's main entrance on Saturday, Nov. 12 anytime between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
