I want to commend the people of Wellsville and all those involved in the memorial ceremony of 9-11. From what I read, it was moving.
I especially appreciate Charles Franklin for accepting the plaque for Cathy's family. Since it was presented to him, I did not feel it necessary to have another public ceremony.
I am not sure my reasons are understood by those involved, but it is very difficult for me to appear in public and have my pain and loss relived - especially when some involved do not actually know me or Cathy.
I felt more comfortable receiving the plaque from Mr. Franklin because he knew Cathy and the family. We sat in the Wellsville Dairy Queen for over two hours and he recalled memories of Cathy when she was in high school that were dear to me. I believe this is the first time in the past 10 years I actually enjoyed talking to someone about Cathy.
I appreciate all that Wellsville has done to show that they remember Cathy - but perhaps it is time to say "enough."
I will always feel the loss - but it is time to put behind the horror of the way she died and to celebrate her life and the joy and the love that she gave not only to me but to everyone who knew her.
