BARBERTON - David G. Lanam, Sr., 74, of Barberton, OH, formerly of Wellsville, died Friday, September 9, 2011, at Doylestown Health Care Center.
He was born September 19, 1936, in East Liverpool, the son of the late Joseph and Ruth (Haddox) Lanam.
He was preceded in death on December 10, 2005, by his wife Harriet Ann (Sims) Lanam, whom he married September 19, 1954.
Dave graduated from Wellsville High School in 1954. He was employed for 25 years as a crane operator at the former Crucible Steel. He was also a state fire inspector and an apartment manager in Hubbard. Dave was a member of the Wellsville Volunteer Fire Department where he formerly served as the assistant chief, and he was the clerk of council in Wellsville for twelve years.
Survivors include four daughters: Cynthia Calhoun and her husband Andy of Barberton, Brenda Blatchford and her husband Edwin of Philadelphia, PA, Sue Ann Lynn and her husband Thomas of Wellsville, and Karen Petrides and her husband Jim of Avon, IN; and two sons: David G. Lanam, Jr. and his wife Linda of East Liverpool, and John Lanam and his wife Jean Ann of Niles, OH. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Dave was preceded in death by one sister: Patricia Milslagle; three brothers: Tom, Jack, and Fred Lanam; one step-grandson: Eric Jividen; and one great-grandson: Jacob Soley.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, September 12, 2011, at the Roberts Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Canfield.
