EAST PALESTINE - After a long courageous battle with cancer, Carol Ann Quintanilla, 69, went home to be with her Lord at 7:30 a.m. Thursday surrounded by her loving family.

Carol was born October 17, 1941 in East Palestine, a daughter of J. Carlyle and Pearl Mary Woods Brown and had lived in this area as well as Guam.

Carol was a licensed cosmetologist and had also worked as a habilitation specialist for Threshold in East Palestine. She was an instructor of Christian Education for a private school while living in Guam and also in Boardman.

She is a member of Grace Lutheran Church and East Palestine #391 Order of Eastern Star. Carol was an avid reader, gardener, a beautiful artist and the best mom and grandma in the whole world.

She will be greatly missed by her devoted family of whom she was so proud; her four daughters, Carrie (Johnny Fincher) Davis of Corpus Christi, TX, Kristine (Jeffrey) Weber of East Palestine, Lisa (Matthew) Sodergren of Enon Valley, PA and Tara (Jacob) Guy of East Palestine; her son, Randy Davis of Hurst, TX and Guam; a sister, Mary Lou Brant ( Ray Woods) of New Waterford; a brother, James (Joanne) Brown of East Palestine; twenty grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; the fathers of her children, Gary L. Davis and Chalmers "Butch" Blatch; many nieces and nephews; countless extended family and friends both here and in her beloved island of Guam; and her devoted dog, Zoe.

She was preceded in death by her husband Francisco S.M. Quintanilla and a grandson, Jason L. Davis.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine with Pastor Donald Pentz officiating. Friends may call from 10 a.m.-12noon at the funeral home.

Material contributions in Carol's memory may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, East Palestine or Hope Lodge 11432 Mayfield Road Cleveland, OH 44106.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Hospice of the Valley, especially Emma and Sam, her pastor, Pastor Don and Dr. Robert Debernardo and Jan from Cleveland University Hospital.
