Golden anniversary for Salem couple

SALEM - Melvin and Virginia Wilms will celebrate their 50th anniversary with an open house, hosted by their children, from 2-4 p.m. June 12 at the Salem Community Center.

The former Virginia Kelly, daughter of the late Harry and Marie Kelly, married Melvin Wilms, son of the late Lawrence and Dorothy Wilms, on June 9, 1961 at the Market Street Methodist Church, Winchester, Va. Pastor Charles J. Bright performed the ceremony.

They have five daughters, Roxanne (Ken) Harrington, Powell; Sabrina Wilms Terry, New Iberia, La.; Melinda (Chaka) Wallace, Oshkosh, Wis.; Gerturde Wilms, Akron; and Tricia (Tyler) Jackson, Salem. They also have seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
