ELO couple marks 68th year

EAST LIVERPOOL - Mr. and Mrs. Ira Means celebrated their 68th anniversary on Feb. 18.

The former Gladys Shields, daughter of the late Hobart and Violet Shields, West Point, married Ira Mean, son of the late Joseph Ira and Ida Means, Fraizers Bottom, W.Va., on Feb. 18, 1943 at the Wellsville Evangelical Church. The Rev. Coltiorn performed the ceremony.

Mr. Means retired as a millwright and carpenter from Trade Local Union 171, Youngstown. He served as master of Masonic Lodge 315 in 1993. He is also a member of Eastern Star Chapter 18 and commandery.

Mrs. Means retired in 1982 from Hall China as a decorator and gold liner. She is a member of the Social Order of Beauceant Assembly 17 and Eastern Star Crystal Chapter 18.

The couple have three daughters and one son, along with 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
