EAST PALESTINE - Mr. and Mrs. Steve Gorby will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Jan. 20 with a family dinner hosted by their children.
The former Vera Smith, daughter of Vernon and Frances Smith, married Steve Gorby, son of Nelson and Verna Gorby, on Jan. 20, 1951 at the East Palestine First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. James Fruit performed the ceremony.
Mr. Gorby retired from Thompson Coal Company after 34 years as a heavy equipment operator. He is an Ohio past state officer for the Eagles.

Mrs. Gorby worked at the Landmark egg plant for 12 years. She is a past maden president of the New Waterford Eagles Auxiliary 2415.
The couple have four children, Gary L. Gorby Sr., Eileen Foley, both of East Palestine; Diane Jutte, Boardman; and Patty Best, Columbiana. They also have 10 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
