GUILFORD LAKE -Robert and Shirley Witherspoon, Guilford Lake, recently celebrated their 65th anniversary on Dec. 8.
The former Shirley A. Grimes, of Homeworth, married Robert E. Witherspoon, of Minerva, on Dec. 8, 1945 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minerva. They remain active members of St. Paul's.
Mr. Witherspoon is a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy.

They were co-owners of Carnation Machine & Tool, Alliance, and Monarch Products, Minerva. Following their retirement the couple resided in Naples, Fla. for 18 years.
The couple have four children, Charles (Cathy) Witherspoon, Canton, Ga.; Randy Witherspoon, Salem; Lynette (Jeff) Church, Alliance; and the late Susan (Douglas) Waefler. They also have six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
