NEW WATERFORD - Gretchen McGuckin, 62, of 3949 W. Main S., died at 3 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, at St. Elizabeth's Health Center, Youngstown following a brief illness.
Mrs. McGuckin was born April 13, 1948, in Salem, a daughter of William and Irene George Frew and had lived in this area all of her life.
Gretchen was currently working as a secretary for Humtown Products in Columbiana. She had also worked at Buckeye Publishing in Lisbon and the Gerald Henn Workshops Pottery in New Waterford.
She is survived by her husband, Gary McGuckin, whom she married April 28, 1972; three sons, William Gus McGuckin and Mitchell Frew McGuckin, both of New Waterford, Charles McGuckin of Cuyahoga Falls; a grandson, John Charles McGuckin; a brother, Steve (Sara) Frew of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a stepdaughter, Denise of California, and three stepgrandchildren, Erika, Sarah and Matthew.
Gretchen was preceded in death by a stepson, Gary Douglas McGuckin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine with Mr. Robert Helbeck, minister of the First Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
