Beaver Local 55, Hubbard 30

CALCUTTA — Sam Cianni stole the show. Monday night, Cianni scored 27 points, pulled down seven rebounds, contributed six assists and she added seven steals leading the Beaver Local girls basketball team to a 55-30 victory over visiting Hubbard. “Sam played a complete game tonight,” Beaver Local (8-9) head coach Josh Sigler said. “She played both ends of the floor. She rebounded well, and that carried over. Her performance carried over to everyone else’s performance.” Michela Nicholson netted 10 points to help the Beavers’ cause. Beaver Local recorded 19 steals in the game. “I am extremely pleased with how they played,” Sigler said. “We decided to turn the pressure up. I was disappointed with how we played last week, but we had three good days of practice, and it carried over to today. We didn’t let up against Hubbard.” Hubbard won the J.V. game, 33-28. Mattie Anderson delivered eight points for Beaver Local. The Beavers are scheduled to return to action Wednesday at Struthers.
