EAST PALESTINE -Mr. Donald E. Felger, Sr., 83, of 3363 N. Pleasant Drive, passed away Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, at the Salem Community Hospital where he had been a patient for the past four days.
Donald was born May 18, 1926, in Unity Township, a son of the late William and Fay Justison Felger, and had been a lifelong resident of the community.
He was a World War II Navy Veteran where he served in the South Pacific theater of operation.
He had been a welder with the former L.W. Nash Company of East Palestine and later with Rochester Machine of New Brighton, Pa., from where he retired in 1988.
Donald is survived by his wife, the former Susan A. Stallsmith, whom he married Aug. 3, 1946. Other survivors include his four sons, James E. (Colleen) Felger and Donald E. (Nancy) Felger, Jr., both of East Palestine, Kim (Sherry) Felger of New Waterford, and Russell (Tiffany Rice) Felger of Leetonia; three brothers, Delmar Felger of East Palestine, Gerald Felger of North Lima, and Alfred Felger; two sisters, Kathyleen Payton of Youngstown and Paddy Peveler of Florida. His nine grandchildren, James (Amy) Felger, II, Jason (Nuralle), Kelly, Donna, David, Robert, and Adam Felger, Lisa Dodge and Nathan Ward, also survive him as do 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Russell, Virgil and Harlan Felger, as well as four sisters, Anola Master, Elva Fronk, Lucille Hartman and Miss Mildred Felger in infancy.
Services are not being observed.
