Harry SimpsonDecember 23, 2009COLUMBIANA - Harry K. Simpson, 91, of Columbiana, Ohio, passed away at 10:29 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at the Salem Community Hospital of infirmities of age. Mr. Simpson was born on Aug. 19, 1918, in New Waterford, Ohio, to the late Orie T. and Ellen (Kay) Simpson. Harry was a lifelong area resident and a 1936 graduate of Columbiana High School. He retired in 1976 from Commercial Motor Freight in Youngstown, Ohio. Prior he had worked 12 years at Motorfreight of Columbiana. Mr. Simpson was a member of the Columbiana United Methodist Church and a World War II U.S. Army Veteran serving in the European Theatre as a Tank Mechanic. Harry was a member of the American Legion 131 of Leetonia, a member of the V.F.W. Post 5532 of Washingtonville and a member of the Saxons Branch 19 of Salem. Mr. Simpson was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty L. (Moser) Simpson on June 21, 1983. Harry was preceded in death on Aug. 18, 2008, by his second wife, Hilda M. (Lutsch) Simpson, whom he married on Aug. 11, 1984. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Brown; his son, Wayne Simpson; and his brother, David Simpson. Mr. Simpson is survived by seven grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana. Burial will be in Columbiana Cemetery where a Military Honors Service will be conducted by the American Legion Post #290 of Columbiana. Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana.
