Helen Oshaben

LISBON - Helen Oshaben, 80, of Pleasant View Drive, passed away at 9:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at the Hospice House of Poland following a recent illness.

Mrs. Oshaben was born Aug. 15, 1929, in West Point, a daughter of the late Andrew and Stefania (Horinka) Novak, and had lived most of her life in the Lisbon area.

A 1947 graduate of Lisbon David Anderson High School, Helen was a homemaker and a former vice president of SNPJ Lodge #358 and a member of the AMLA lodge #6.

Helen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who enjoyed raising flowers and tending to her yard.

Her husband, Edward Charles Oshaben, whom she married Oct. 14, 1950, preceded her in death Nov. 10, 2002.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Helen Oshaben of Euclid, Ohio, daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and John Ekhardt of Gameliel, Ky., son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Virginia Oshaben of Bradenton, Fla., daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Howard Loudon of Salem, Ohio, daughter, Suzanne Oshaben of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Todd Kemats of Lisbon, Ohio; grandchildren, Eddie, Stephanie, Bill, John, Eddy, Joshua, Jeff, Bobby, Jackie, Sarah, Andy and Aaron; great-granddaughter, Mia; sister, Mrs. Anne Klembara of Lisbon; brother, Andy Novak of Lebanon, Ohio; brother-in-law, Victor Roscoe of Warren, Ohio, and sister-in-law, Linda Novak of Radcliff, Ky.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Oshaben was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Delanis, Margie Roscoe and Susan Belaney; and her brothers, Loudie and John Novak.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home, with her son-in-law, the Rev. John W. Ekhardt officiating. Burial will follow in the Lisbon Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the services Wednesday at the funeral home.
