Elsie Mort

EAST PALESTINE - Mrs. Elsie Mort, 91, of 516 West Main St., passed away at 3:51 a.m. Saturday at the Covington Health Center, where she had been a patient.

Elsie was born April 4, 1918 in East Palestine, a daughter of the late Albert J. and Ada Jane Johnson Aldridge, Sr., and was a life resident of the community.

She had been a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church.

Her husband, Leonard A. Mort, whom she married September 16, 1943, preceded her in death March 5, 1980. Two sisters, Elizabeth Rucker and Constance "Dolly" Miller, as well as four brothers, Albert, Jr., Wilbur, Richard Donald, and Jack Aldridge, had preceded her in death.

Elsie is survived by a son, Dr. Gary L. (Gayle) Mort, Peoria, AZ, and a brother, Robert W. Aldridge, Negley.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Burns Memorial Chapel, Glenview Cemetery, with her brother-in-law, Leslie Rucker, officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery. Calling hours will not be observed. The family has asked that material tributes take the form of contributions to the East Palestine Emergency Medical Technicians.
