Zella Cobbs

DAMASCUS - Zella DeCort Cobbs, 94, of Damascus, passed away at 1:10 AM Friday, November 20, 2009 at Essex of Salem.

Mrs. Cobbs family owned the DeCort Basket Factory for many years. Their specialty was hand made splint berry baskets for area farmers.

Mrs Cobbs lived over 60 years in her home on Route 62, and had a beauty shop there as well.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Guston and Josephine DeCort, who immigrated to Pittsburgh from Belgium; husband, W. Donald Cobbs; son, Donald E. Cobbs; brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Ruth DeCort; and sister, Grace DeCort.

She is survived by her son, Douglas Cobbs, of Damascus; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Cobbs, of Columbus; as well as other relatives in the immediate area.

The family thanks the wonderful staff of Essex II of Salem and Hospice of the Valley for their loving care.

Friends may meet briefly at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen Funeral Home in Salem 1 PM Monday. A graveside service will follow at Damascus Friends Cemetery at 2 PM.
