Archie Palmer

VERMILION - Archie C. Palmer, 72, of Vermilion, OH, formerly of Salineville, OH, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2009 after a short illness.

He was born March 22, 1937 to Ora and Crawford Palmer and has been a Vermilion resident since 1969 until time of death.

Archie worked in the Outside Shipping Department of USS/KOBE Steel Mill, Lorain, OH from 1969 until he retired in September of 2000. He was a member of Union Local #1104. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends, many of whom are in this area; visiting flea markets; working with brother, Alvin, and nephew, Kevin, on our fixer-upper in East Liverpool; riding his motorcycle, fishing, playing solitaire on computer, and word find puzzles.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Patricia "Kitty" Palmer (ne Janet Ellen Berkheimer); daughters, Lisa (Jeff) Blackford of Wakeman, OH and Melissa Palmer of Lorain, OH; and son, Larry Palmer (Leann) of Hawthorne, New Jersey. Grandchildren, Matthew and Jarad Blackford; Mark Palmer and Alyssa Weismann; great-grandson, Elijah Weismann. Sister, Audrey West of Vermilion; brothers, Arthur Palmer and Alvin Palmer of Calcutta and Arlie Palmer of Pittsburgh, PA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and was everyone's favorite uncle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Crawford L. Palmer and Ora A. Palmer (ne Wiley). Also sisters, Alice Perkins/Brown (ne Palmer) and infant Anna Virginia Palmer. Also a brother, Alfred Palmer.

Memorial services or "Celebration of Life" will be held for Archie on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 4 p.m. at the American Legion, Post 374, 1824 Parkway Ave., East Liverpool, OH.
