Edwin Rohrer
NORTH LIMA - Memorial services will be held October 18th for Edwin Harrold Rohrer age 83 who died Friday evening at St. Elizabeth Care Center in Boardman. Edwin was born June 4, 1926 in North Lima, the son of Carrie and John Harrold Rohrer. He was a graduate of North Lima High School and later served our country in the Army during W.W. II in the European theater. He graduated from The Ohio State University with his degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked for the Enterprise Company (the Stamets Co.) in Columbiana. In 1966 he formed his own company Rohrer Associates, Inc. in the Poland and Boardman areas until he sold the company in 1986. During his professional career he was awarded three patents.
He was a past member of the Columbiana Presbyterian Church and a current member of the Mt. Olivet United Church of Christ where he served as a trustee and treasurer of the church for many years. He was a member of the Boy Scouts and was a parent volunteer when his son Donald was a member. He was an over 10 year member of the Kiwanis and a life member of the Professional Engineers society, Mechanical Engineering Society and Veterans of the 12th Armored Division. Ed also enjoyed gardening and fishing.
He is survived by his wife the former Janet H. Mayes whom he married in 1949, five children: Virginia (Jim) Kaiser, Evelyn Best, Dr. Elizabeth McEvoy ( Fred) Specht, Rev. Helen McEvoy (John) Freese and Donald (Vicky) Rohrer, grandchildren: Thomas and Daniel Freese, SFC-E7 Jason (Pamala) Best stationed in Iraq and Andrea Best, great-grandchildren: Mryanda, Jacob, Jarrett Best and Mark and Marshall Calvin, and seven other great-grandchildren, and his special canine friends: K.D., Candy and Lexi.
The time and location of memorial services will be announced at a later date
The family has requested that contributions be made to the Memorial Fund at Mt. Olivet United Church of Christ in North Lima in Ed's memory.
