Elizabeth Stark

SALEM -Elizabeth I. "Betty" Stark, 80, formerly of Lisbon, died at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at Blossom Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.

Born Dec. 10, 1928 in Wellsville, she was a daughter of the late Wilbur J. and Mabel I. (Catlett) Smith.

She had worked as a barmaid at the Lisbon VFW and the American Slovak Club in Salem and as a waitress at the former Pine Tree Inn.

She was member of the First United Methodist Church of Lisbon and VFW Post 4111 Ladies Auxiliary, and a charter member of the West Point Lions Club.

Survivors include her children, Diana Richardson and Gloria Guthrie, both of Clarksville, Tenn., Robert (Nancy) Stark of Leetonia, and Barb (Harry) Reisinger of Lisbon; brothers, Wilbur Smith of Negley and Kenneth Smith of Salem; and a sister, Janis Mundy of Lisbon, as well as nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and seven stepgrandchildren.

Her husband, Melvin Stark, whom she married in 1947, died in 1994. Also deceased is a brother, Donald Smith.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3 at the Weber Funeral Home with the Rev. Pam Gable officiating. Burial will be in Lisbon Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home where a Lions service will be held at 2 p.m.
