Charles DerringtonJune 29, 2009EAST LIVERPOOL Charles Donald Derrington, 80, passed away at his home on Old Fredericktown Road, East Liverpool, at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2009, following a lengthy illness. Born in East Liverpool on May 9, 1929, he was a son of the late William H. and Lillian Deyarman Derrington. A 1947 graduate of East Liverpool High School, he was a lifetime area resident and had worked from 1956 to 1994 as a roll grinder at the former Crucible Steel, which later became J&L Specialty Steel. At one time, he had served as a deacon and an elder at the 1st Evangelical Presbyterian Church in East Liverpool, and was currently attending Northside Community Church. Surviving him at home is his wife, Helen Louise Cunningham Derrington, whom he married on Sept. 9, 1948. Three daughters and one son also survive: Mrs. Wayne (Janet) Christen of East Liverpool, Mrs. Wayne (Deborah) Stewart of Maumelle, Ark., Mrs. Mark (Melissa) O'Hanlon of Copperas Cove, Texas, and William K. Derrington and his wife, Elizabeth, of East Liverpool. Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Aaron Stewart, David Christen, Jeremy Christen, Eric Derrington, Kristy Derrington Foreman, Daniel Derrington, Adam O'Hanlon and Douglas O'Hanlon. There are also six great-grandchildren: Chandler Derrington, Chase Derrington, Tatum Derrington, Michael J. Foreman, Ashlynn Foreman and Aiden O'Hanlon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Weston and Virginia Andrus, and a brother, William F. Derrington, as well as two grandchildren, Seth Stewart and Nicki Stewart. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Dawson Funeral Home, with Pastor Larry Rose of Northside Community Church officiating. Following the service family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
