SALINEVILLE - Gene and Saundra Polen celebrated 50 years of marriage at a dinner and dance celebration at Das Dutch Haus Village Inn on April 4. The reception was hosted by their children, with friends and relatives in attendance.
Mr. Polen and his wife, the former Saundra Cassidy, were married on May 4, 1959 in North Carolina.
Mr. Polen is retired from Ford Motor Company in Canton. After retiring, he received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Youngstown State University.

Mrs. Polen is retired from the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center in Lisbon.
The Polens are the parents of four sons, Stephen and Christine, Boardman; Todd and Beth, Canton; Brent and Jennifer, Salem; and Kent and Charmayne, Canfield, and eight grandchildren.
