COLUMBIANA —Kathryn L. Shafer, 59, of 337 W. Salem St., formerly of East Liverpool and Enon Valley, Pa., passed away early Wednesday morning from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on state Route 60 in Hopewell Twp., Beaver County, Pa.
Kathy was born Dec. 29, 1948, in Lorain, Ohio, a daughter of the late Harry E. and Betty J. Stone McLaughlin.
She had resided in the East Liverpool area for several years, moving to Columbiana last November. She had been employed with Au Bon Pain at the Pittsburgh International Airport for the past few months, and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
She was a member of the Union Ridge Chapel.
In addition to her husband, Daniel L. Shafer, whom she married July 16, 1977, she leaves a daughter, Angela Shafer, Salem; two sons, Michael Shafer, Salineville, and Daniel “Robbie” Shafer, East Liverpool; a stepdaughter, Clara Hawk, Rogers, and a stepson, Daniel Shafer, Salem. She also leaves 13 grandchildren: Kila, Michael, Zachary, Joshua, Logan, Daniel, Cheyenne, Benny, Christina, Timothy, Alex, C.J. and Gerryanne; six brothers, H. Gene McLaughlin, Darlington, Floyd McLaughlin, Lennox, Mich., James McLaughlin, Lisbon, Daniel and David McLaughlin, both of New Port Richey, Fla., and John McLaughlin, East Palestine, and six sisters, Barbara C. Erhardt, Lisbon, Betty Weatherly, Beaver Falls, Pa., Sally Martin and Karen Freed, both of Enon Valley, Pa., Sharon Stuart, New Castle, and Nancy Schroeder, Negley.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home, East Palestine, with burial to follow in Little Beaver Cemetery, Enon Valley, Pa.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m., today (Friday).
