Shirley Knickerbocker

SALEM — Shirley I. Knickerbocker, 63, of Depot Road died at 8:10 PM Monday, May 5, 2008 at Salem Community Hospital following a short illness.
Born December 25, 1944 in Highlandtown, she was a daughter of the late Homer A. and Vivian M. (Rice) Stewart.
She retired in 2005 after working as a bus driver at United Local Schools for 21 years and was a 1962 graduate of Southern Local High School.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, David J. Knickerbocker whom she married July 13, 1968; her son, Douglas J. (Melissa) Knickerbocker of Salem; a granddaughter, Audrey Olivia Knickerbocker; 3 sisters: Dorothy (Darl) Kireta-Painter of Louisville, Evelyn (Daniel) Babb of Salem, Thelma (Gerald) Penny-Scott of Canton; 2 brothers: Meryl (Nancy) Stewart of East Palestine and James(Willa) Stewart of Highlandtown; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Danser, and 2 brothers, Raymond and Glenn Stewart.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 10 at the Weber Funeral Home with the Rev. Mac Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Woodsdale Cemetery. Calling hours are 1 to 3 PM and 6 to 9 PM Friday at the funeral home.
