Dorothy Garris

EAST PALESTINE —Dorothy L. Garris, 86, of 587 Bacon Avenue, died at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2008, at the Salem Community Hospital.

Mrs. Garris was born Oct. 6, 1921, in East Palestine, a daughter of the late Merle and Margaret Veon Blake. She was a homemaker and had lived in this area most of her life.

Her husband, Paul E. Garris, whom she married March 17, 1950, died Jan. 15, 1980.

She is survived by three daughters, Margaret (Randy) Randolph of East Palestine, Lugene (Dale) Creed of Berlin Center and Paulette (William) Creed of St. Cloud, Fla.; a son, Rick Garris of St. Cloud, Fla.; three sisters, Carol Hughes of Columbus, Joanne (Carlo) Boni of Palm Springs, Calif., and Betty Lester of East Palestine; two brothers, Ron Blake of Buena Park, Calif., and Ralph (Joyce) Blake of East Palestine; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Greskovich; two sisters, Ruth Blake and Rosemary Thompson, and six brothers, Bob, Dale, Eugene, Larry, Cecil, and Merle Blake.

No services are being observed. Burial was in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements were made by the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine.
