YELLOW CREEK TOWNSHIP - A 47-year-old Irondale man sustained fatal injuries Thursday morning when his car drove off the right side of the roadway on Old Irondale Road and struck a tree.
According to the Lisbon Post of the State Highway Patrol, George M. McDowell was killed in that crash that occurred at 2:36 a.m.
The Patrol said McDowell's 1996 Ford Taurus GL was southbound on Old Irondale Road, 2.7 miles south of state Route 39, when it went off the road and hit the tree. McDowell was not wearing a seat belt. The crash is still under investigation.
