COLUMBIANA — Nick Baiamonte surrendered only one hit in five innings of work as East Palestine shut out Crestview 2-0 in Inter-Tri County League upper tier baseball action Wednesday.

Pat Buckley led the winners offensively with a double.

Corey Hill struck out 10 for the Rebels, 0-1.

East Palestine is 1-0.

Bears battle

LEETONIA — Ryan Gruszecki had two doubles and two RBIs and Andrew Ryan had a single and triple as Leetonia knocked off Southern 7-0 Wednesday in ITCL lower tier action.

Gruszecki also had seven strikeouts in four innings of work on the mound for the Bears, 1-0.

Leetonia will be at Southern today.

Devils shine

NORTH LIMA — Dana Rose had three hits and three RBIs, while Lucas Rambo, Dustin Borg, Jon Crowell and Matt Wilson had two hits each as Lisbon stopped South Range 16-9 in six innings Wednesday.

Isaac Melnick, Jack Dawson and Shawn Knopp each had two hits for the Raiders.

It was the opener for both team. The two teams will play each other today at Lisbon.

Clippers lose

STRUTHERS – The Columbiana Clippers were on the wrong end of seventh inning loss.

The Ursuline Irish defeated the Clippers 6-5 Wednesday at Cene Park by scoring a run in the bottom of the seventh.

Travis Denmeade led the Clippers (0-2) with two hits and three RBIs. Jon Ritchey hit a double while Josh Harold earned a triple for Columbiana.

Paul Cene hit a double for the Irish (2-0) in the win.

Tigers tumble

BERLIN CENTER – The Western Reserve Blue Devils took advantage of two second inning errors by Wellsville to score four runs in the inning and gain a 6-2 win Wednesday.

Wellsville’s Michael Stacy and Nunzio Lombardozzi each got two hits in the loss.

The Tigers travel to McDonald today.

EAST PALESTINE — East Palestine’s Luke Gorby went 2-for-3 with two RBIs as the jayvee Bulldogs pulled out a 5-3 win over Crestview Wednesday.

Doyce Rose was the winning pitcher.

The two teams play again today at Crestview.



Lions roar

BELOIT —Minerva’s jayvees topped West Branch 6-5 Wednesday.

Joey Rinaldi, Zach Lenigar, Brandon Carver and Jake Stahl had two hits each for the Warriors, 0-1.
