EAST PALESTINE — A council that has worked together fairly smoothly over the last year is now divided, and emotions ran hot Monday night in council chambers....

March 11th jimbo posted at 808 pm and Busmom posted at 821pm so they must also be the same person? Notsocial maybe more of an idiot than jason/had enough. The reason we know jason is hadenough is because jason was was accused of something on a post and then hadenough responded for him with a sentence including "I". meaning he forgot to log out of hadenough account before responding as jason. Wouldn't surprise me if you are jason/hadenough also

Elzer and Figley need run out of town and straight up the flagpole. Both were rude and obnoxious towards the two ladies that spoke. But by golly Elzer and Figley never shut their mouths. There ARE other people in this town other than those two peons. And...NO ONE came to this meeting or the last and spoke FOR the leasing/fracking/drilling....The people have spoke. Don't like it...leave.

Reager/hadenough if you had half a brain you'd understand he's calling the people who are against drilling stupid. Which I completely agree with. And if you lived in this town he'd be calling you stupid and I'd completely agree with him there too.

Whats the harm in sending a ballot out to see if people want it? Ridiculous. Seems like a dictatorship to me. I'll also be voting against Alan Cohan and for drilling

If I can't vote on gas leases I guess I'll just vote against Alan Cohan. Basically the same thing.

Who cares if Mr. Elzer owns a lot of property in town? He paid for them. He pays the tax's on his properties. I say put the issue on the ballot. Let the people decide. This isn't rocket science. I challenge all members of counsel to come up with ideas for job creation.

Yes, I think the people of East Palestine get the picture now, and when voting time comes I'm sure this will not be forgotten. Thankfully, we have some council members willing to put in the hard work and effort to see that things get done legally and FOR the people not against the people. The arrogance and rudeness at the meeting last night will not soon be forgotten. Mr Elzer, this is NOT Pittsburgh, so if you have grand schemes of turning it into a city dump...please return from where you came from. We don't need that kind of progress. As you saw, the people spoke, and so did the majority of council. Meeting Adjourned!

I guess the key to being successful on city counsel is to lie and scare people early so that you always have an opportunity to repeal legislation in the future after something is already passed. My guess is gas companies will drill all around and under ep. Our town will continue to be columbiana's red headed step child and our taxes will be raised within 2 years. Oh and business will continue to leave ep. I'll remember this when election time comes around.

The scared citizens of East Palestine got what they wanted. Let's take things slow. Then let's watch the oil and gas companies eventually pack up their things and leave. I need to get out of this small minded, frightened little town.
