The level of ignorance and indifference at which our school board and superintendent operate is made apparent by the continued expenditure of money, from whatever source, on our athletic facilities, while our teachers exist under a wage freeze and without a contract. It has been like this for years now, priorities backward and upside-down. Despite the constant flow of students out of the district to other, better schools, it has not yet dawned on EP administrators that the quality of education, not the surface of the football field or the gym, is what attracts and keeps families in a town. Wake up and do your jobs! Frankly, I think the teachers ought to strike. Time for a wake-up call.

Surely you would think the Board would be asking why students wished to leave the district. I would guess there are at least 100 in various grades.

Most readers can remember how EP residents were promised the new $4 million stadium would bring more families into EP, increase the district's open enrollment, get us the big football tournament games and generally turn the district into the Garden of Eden. None of that has happened. EP continues to lose population and the schools continue to lose students to open enrollment. Time and experience nationwide show over and over the only way to achieve lasting benefits and growth in any school district is by providing a great education. Period. Give the teachers the great contract they deserve.

School Board members are elected. Vote them all out. I pulled my child out of EP schools because of excessive bullying by other students as well as a few staff members. The "good old boy" mentality of this village IS creating the downfall. We need forward thinking people to represent us regarding schools and the community in general. Sometimes I tend to feel that a few (NOT ALL) of the people in EP do not want any "outsiders" moving in and making changes. The vast majority of citizens here are good, hard working people. But, the few are afraid of change. BREAKING NEWS: it is not the 1970's anymore.

SpeakWithBallot: You have two on council right now, one up for re-election this year.. Vote 'im out. Then you have three on the board who are narrow minded and just plain blind.
