It's not about liking Mr. Elzer, it's about some of his "activities" with the Chamber while being on council. Most memorable is the Community Center Fee and the attempt for his chamber to have free anytime access to it. That would have cost this town and park thousands of dollars in park revenue, while earlier he was stating the park needs more revenue. Doesn't make sense.

I am really confused about the dislike for Don Elzer. Is he my favorite person in the world, not really. But in the 7 years that I have lived here, he has shown his merit here. People seem to forget that this town is going downhill quickly, but he is trying to bring it back. Might I add, he is doing so without the support of the whole community.

Seriously, he has flaws and he does rub some folks the wrong way. But he has tried to do more for OUR town than anyone else is doing. Yes, he has some properties that aren't finished. Have you really looked through town? There are many places that have no business being lived in, but I don't see anyone saying anything about them.

I'm not trying to start anything, I guess my only point is that if you don't like the way things are being handled, there are empty seats. How about you fill them and stop using every article in the journal as an attack on him and making our home look like a joke.

Regarding the disrespectful youth of this village, where are their parents ? I often hear young people swearing, see them smoking, etc. No matter if signs are put in place or not, pedestrians have the right of way. Elections are coming. Time to get rid of the "good old boy" mentality of current elected officials with personal agendas. Mr. Monteleone and Chief Dickey are doing the best job possible with what they have.

I don't understand this headline. If I have this correct, one person comes to a park board meeting to complain because teenagers don't have the right to play on the kiddie playground -- which is absurd in and of itself, high school kids playing on the kiddie playground, give me a break -- but this one person then does not even show up at the council meeting, where, apparently, everyone agrees the teenagers have no business on the kiddie playground and that the sign is okay, right? But the headline is "Sign in East Palestine park ruffles more than a few feathers." Doesn't sound to me like too many feathers were ruffled. Cohen is right: They have over 150 acres to "hang out" on; they have no right playing in a designated safe area designed specifically for small children.

So now we need to further impede traffic because folks attended an event downtown. Does Mr. Elzer now have a sign painter friend to paint the no right turn signs?. He needs to go back to Pa. where they have all these silly laws and signs. Have there been any citations by police for violations of the right turn laws? East Palestine is doing well despite him, not because of him.
