May 24, 2013

LISBON — The first day of picketing by striking CARTS employees was uneventful, according to Lisbon Police Chief Mike Abraham. “Actually, it went very smoothly,” he said....

Striking CARTS employee Karen Mitchell takes it easy in a lawn chair while picketing outside the CARTS garage...

The only thing missing from this picture is a "tax payer" funded barbecue grill!

CAA give the three that went back to work a RAISE and FIRE the rest OF THEM and stop wasting my hard earned tax dollars!

So you want to bust the union huh? These people are making just above minimum wage to haul your mother or grandmother around. Do you want someone who is not qualified doing that?

Hire new workers. The present ones do npt appreciate their jobs. And freddy: it would not take a genius to haul a mother or grandmother around or learn how! I have seen some of the drivers whipping around and mostly EMPTY buses.

And Freddy, the 3% raise those drivers were offered was fair. 5% is out of the question. I don't like Bretz, but I agree with her on this one...

Freddy sez: "These people are making just above minimum wage to haul your mother or grandmother around. Do you want someone who is not qualified doing that?"

That is a laughable losing argument.

First, when it comes to my mother or grandmother. I don't burden other tax payers to do what I am capable of doing on my own and my responsibility.

Secondly, if I can drive them where they need to go, guess I am qualified to be a CART DRIVER! And with that thought, you know what? I think I will call CAA and VOLUNTEER my time until this greedy money demand is over!!

Third, I followed a CART the other day and the only thing I could whisper under my breath at that moment...was "dang" never a cop when you need one when that CART DRIVER ran the stop light and nearly caused a crash and endangered the safety of the people on board. If my mom or grandmother had been on board, I would have jerked the driver bald!

You want to keep that dumb argument going or do you want

...want to keep it going? These drivers are over paid and I think after this money tale is spun...somebody needs to do an investigation after the fact to make sure, not one driver that it using this job to supplement their retirement benefits ISN'T making one dime illegally over the limit of what they can earn? NOW that is a real plan, what you think?

For some people in this county carts is the only means of transportation that they have to get to work or drs appointments or grocery shopping. Also a majority of the drivers this is their main source of income. Go ahead volunteer get your cdl get trained in CPR and first aid , get trained in hauling people in wheelchairs, get a background check. There is a lot more to driving than you might think.

Point one....Oh really now? You expect me to care about that when it is obvious 41 drivers don't care?

Point two...when did that scenario become my responsibility as a tax payer? You want talk about how the CARTS system is abused and that cost dumped on the taxpayers?

Which one do you want to go with?

Or maybe we should talk about the cuts being looked at by the State in how this CART system grew beyond it's real purpose and intent?

In reality, when it comes to the big picture not being painted...those drivers and their money demands is going to walk them right into unemployment lines. And that means, people who truly NEED this system is going to LOSE!

The actual paperwork and Bretz said many of the drivers are retirees who use this job to supplement their retirement benefits.

Well if Bretz said it it must be gospel. Yes there are a few drivers that are retired.but also a majority of them this is there sole source of income. Also could you live on your social security benefits alone? And talk about people being paid too much, Bretz is in the six figure range.
