Sad take to this issue and to the other issues the town faces, the fact that business and growth are passing the town up. Petty issues and irresponsibility of the past still haunt and inhibit the growth of the town. I have yet to see any real business growth or zoning development from the Chamber or Planning Commission!

Oh the zoning definitely applies. It covers every piece of property in the city. As I understand it, provisions were made in the law for lots like Ortenzio's lot, that existed before the zoning. You were allowed to keep using them but the law said you could never change them to anything different, had to always keep them the same way they were when zoning came in. If you didn't, they went back to being residential lots automatically.

With the limited knowledge of the village I wonder if the zoning even applies since this was done pre zoning.

Quite frankly, this is one of the reasons the town is declining and being run with a few personal agendas. Cohen is right, Smith(for once) is right and Beagle is correct about appealing or reapplying. NOW, the point of the whole mess is: the property is located in a residential area, it was grandfathered as a Dr was there at that time. The town does not need a tattoo parlor, or other undesirable business at the park entrance. As for the municipal office moving there, where would the monies come from to purchase this? Common sense is being shown by the three mentioned above, however, we do have a pair on council who would vote for anything to move there as long as that owner would let the Chamber have free meetings there!

This is stupid. They should be wanting the property to be inviting to a new business prospect. It isn't like EP is over flowing with new businesses and jobs. If the zoning is too restrictive, no one will want to buy it.

To EPWatch - Oh no, it never ends. See, in this day and age you have to make sure the cranks and the crazies are all satisfied and happy, while us normal people get screwed every day. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, especially in politics, don't you know that? Knowing some of the people on this council they'll still be fighting about this next year, wait and see. They never know when an issue is over. Just because they voted against it already, why should that matter. That would be too easy. That would make sense. They'll just keep going in circles over this forever.

I thought if Council voted to stop something that was the end of it. Didn't know we could all appeal Council's votes. When did that happen? Guess "no" just doesn't mean "no" anymore. Sounds to me like Beagle pretty much told this guy he can keep this up forever. What's up with that? How can that be right? Are Smith and Cohen the only ones who think this all has to stop? Don't the rest of them have any common sense? What's wrong with this picture? Enough already people! This is just nuts.
