If they would have given Darren that 9k bump along with the Tim none of this would have happened. Now we are weaker than ever until the new guy gets up to fema speed and a real deputy is hired. Hopefully he will stay considering the last 5 or so people quit in less than a year. Ever wonder why there haven't been any grants approved lately? The direct result of commissioners bad business decisions. It's going to be a while before the ema meets fed grant status again.

What Columbiana County needed was the best qualified individual for this extremely important position. Most people do not realize how the right individual can make things happen correctly in time of disaster. I wish this young man the very best as he served his country well and now will serve Columbiana County. It is too bad that the commissioners could not have given an increase to Mr. Dodson when he asked so he looked for other employment and accepted a position. The starting wage of the director now is $59, 000 and is a slap in the face to Mr. Dodson who was making $50,000 and was fully trained and qualified with lots of experience. Another disturbing issue is the politics. I know for a fact that there were resumes received from other military members for this position by the 8/3/12 deadline with college degrees and were qualified with their emergency experiences and received letters stating the position was filled. Early August this position was not filled, why sign the letters MS

***addition comments from last post** letters MS. Dillard saying so? Just say “A further review of all candidates is still needed”. Another go around with qualified civil applicants were also turned down at the end of October (look at the 11/1 Article). Why? A possibility of holding this position open for a friend coming off of active duty. Again, I wish this young man the best but too bad for the apparent politics that took place. It is a shame Columbiana. Please learn from this lesson with the hiring process and the politics.

It appears Mike Halleck has created chaos since he was elected and the other two kow-tow to him.

Joe Czonka was quoted here saying someone super qualified was supposed to surface before the elections. There you have it.
